About Us: Sarasota and Manatee Expansion
THE DUBIN FAMILY LEGACY
Established in 1995, The Dubin Center provides education, support groups, and trusted guidance for families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Originally founded in Fort Myers, we are excited to be expanding our services to provide support to caregivers throughout Sarasota and Manatee County. The commitment to serve families will continue to be offered both in-person and virtually for seasonal and out-of-state families.
Alvin and Zelda Dubin dedicated their lives to helping others through service and philanthropy. After Alvin's death in 1995, Zelda made a generous legacy gift to ensure that families facing Alzheimer's disease and dementia in our community would always have access to support, education, and hope. In recognition of her extraordinary commitment, the Center was renamed in Alvin's honor.
More than three decades later, Zelda's legacy continues through a new generation of family philanthropy. In 2026, Larry and Nicci Lieberman made a transformative gift to support The Dubin Center's expansion into Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Larry, Zelda's great-nephew, and Nicci share her commitment to ensuring that caregivers facing Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia have access to the support and resources they need.
We are honored that the Dubin family remains connected to our mission and that Zelda's legacy lives on through ongoing community support — including the Zelda Giving Society, which recognizes donors who carry forward her spirit of compassion, generosity, and hope.
